Here is an interesting show. I almost dropped my jaw when scrolling through the few hundred channels on cable to find a truly POSITIVE show. How I Made My Millions gives a number of shorts to business owners who have become wealthy.
There were a few key points I immediately pulled out of the show that I want to share that I feel are standards for ANYone starting a business. The first was a recurring statement made by these self made millionaires. A theme, if you will, where each person made a statement that I relate to and it goes something like this, “If I had known how much and how big this was going to become I don’t know if I would have started.” Think about that for a second. If they knew how SUCCESSFUL they were going to be they would have been too intimidated to do what they did. In my experience I have come across many people with great dreams, fantastic ideas and tremendous passions yet majority never follow through.
As I sit now and read it I am almost curious if people learn to much about their endeavor. I am swayed back and forth between learning as much as you can and BEING as much as you can. They are very different and if you as a being are feeling like an intern how can you ever act like a CEO? Take your idea for a business as an example, don’t you remember numerous occasion sitting there looking at something, hearing something or thinking something like, “How am I going to do that, get there, or accomplish that?” If you are successful you will know the answer isn’t an answer to those questions but an answer into who you are as a being.
So on this program about these successful self made millionaires I keep hearing the recurring theme of how, how and how. As each person eventually explained through their unique circumstances and experiences they all conquered this how with some action. In some cases it was just blind action and in others it was small, seemingly insignificant action. I had a status message on my facebook the other day that prompted a friend of mine to say, “Don’t you love it when people say, “I’m just waiting for the right time to go after my dreams“….I always want to shake them and say why not now!?!?” Its amazing that people are constantly waiting for all the lights to be green before they pull out of the driveway!
Successful people get the port of call in mind and then set sail. Even with all the amazing technology today no one has yet been able to predict the future but that doesn’t stop people from becoming successful REGARDLESS of circumstance. Lets say you are going to sail around the world (something I’d like to do) you are going to not go because you want the weather across the world to be just right. As absurd as this sounds, this is how people approach life in many ways.
The theme of these millionaires can be summed up with this quote, “Don’t wait for something big to occur. Start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater.” Mary Morrissey.
The story of these successful people continues with this little gem, “The way to make a million dollars is to first and foremost, make it in your mind.” -Roxanne Quimby. People often look at their surroundings for the proof they need that says they will be successful. As this program shows, majority of successful people don’t have anything around them that even suggests they are going to be successful. Take Roxanne for example, she lived in the mountains, for all intents and purposes, in the middle of know where and built her bee’s wax and honey empire.
Napolean Hill says it best, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” The first step in every successful persons journey to be successful isn’t to have an idea, or to come up with a million dollar vision or anything like that. The first step is to believe in yourself. No one person EVER has all the answers and no one person ever needs to. How about the old adage, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
In my experience through the development of oneMYnd I can personally attest to these statements. It constantly amazes me that one week I will have only a misty idea of what I want to achieve with zero concept of how to do it and after a few conversations, some research online, a book or two I will not only have my answer but the vision will have grown in some magnitude greater than the original idea. The point and the true beginning of all great accomplishments is to believe in yourself and START!

I will leave you with the above START SIGN imprinted on your brain… let it seep into your sub-conscious mind or as Wayne Dyer likes to call it, the habitual mind.
